The train conductor opened his eyes and found himself in a dark room with nothing but a door in front of him. Instinctively, he walked towards it and opened it. Ahead of him was another room that was dimly lit, and there was a locker that had his regular duty uniform and a gun with only six rounds in the magazine. After picking up the equipment, he started traversing through several more doors containing nothing but the metallic echoes of the doors in the rooms, alas! He finally reached a room where a crowd was formed in a circle, and they seemed to be performing a ritual with the president standing on a higher altitude position.
The confused train conductor felt like he shouldn’t stay any longer and moved forward towards a door in front of him. As he opened it, he got almost blinded by the sudden rays of the sun striking his eyes. He slowly removed his arm in front of his eyes and saw a fascinating sight of nature with birds chirping and wind rustling. He moved forward and noticed that he was actually standing on a balcony. He took a few deep breaths in the fresh air and headed back in hopes to find an exit.
He rushed back, ignoring the crowd, and opened the door from where he came from, but now the room was completely different. The room had no door but a ladder in front of him. He put the gun in his holster and climbed down the ladder. Once the ladders ended, he was surprised with another door that was different from the past few. It had black gooey substance in the shape of a hand and some claw marks. He turned back, but the previous door was replaced by a wall. He was terrified but aware that there’s no turning back now.
He took out his gun and slowly opened the door. His eyes widened as he saw a woman eating a corpse with blood and black goo all around the floor, he backed off but the door behind him shut and made a loud echo which alerted her. Before he knew it, the woman dashed toward him and jumped him. His gun fell far across the room with the woman trying to eat him. He held her back by grabbing her face and broke her neck. He got up, gasping, and looked at her horrendous face that had eyes with no pupil. He reached out and closed her eyelids while feeling guilty for his actions.
He grabbed his gun and continued his journey while encountering more creatures like the woman, some huge, some fast, and some security guards that were in the same condition. One after another, he killed them and continued. Finally, he got into a room that had a neon red sign displaying the word “EXIT” with ladders going downwards. Without any second thoughts, he grabbed the ladder and went down with the ambiance getting darker and darker.
Once down, he found himself in a void of darkness, so dark that he couldn’t even see his hands. With no choice, he moved randomly in the dark for what felt like eternity. In the end, he stumbled across a red button with the message: "In case of an emergency". He punched the glass seal and pressed the button. He pulled his blood-covered hand back and clenched it out of pain. Suddenly, a very loud alarm went off with red lights flickering. Screaming of black gooey creatures creeped in, and soon they came running toward the section.
the horde came from all sides, from the gates and some jumping from the upper levels. The conductor stepped back and pointed the gun at the creatures, but when he pulled the trigger, nothing came out but a click. He unloaded the gun and saw that the magazine was empty. He kept the gun aside and hit the wall. He felt something in his back pocket. It was the seventh bullet he picked up from the locker. He pulled it out and saw his reflection on it.
It was in his hands to not be the horse of the horde. He knew that what he was about to do right now is the only way to end this suffering once and for all. He loaded the last bullet with his bloody hand that was shaking because of the pain and loaded the gun. He put the gun under his chin while the horde dashed toward him and closed his eyes. He settled his hand around the trigger as the vision of his beloved daughter and his wife who passed away came into his mind.
He tried to pull the trigger, but a force was resisting his fingers. Strangely, the loud sound of sirens turned into the beeping of an alarm clock, and when he pulled the trigger, he flinched and woke up on his bed, covered in cold sweat. He was overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions so much that he couldn’t even speak. He glanced at the alcohol bottles along with his gun on the side table and covered his face in somber.
