Hey Deepa

Hang on there! Being 17 is a tough time! And a big failure in life haunting you from behind. I can understand how sad this moment is - a failure in a major exam and a year lost. No one would tell this now, but you were destined for this year!! What you learn in this year will be the foundation for your life. Cheer up!!

Everyone who knows you, knows your magic with words! The love, the passion you have for Kannada and the ease of your translatability from English. You are destined to be a language professional, not a scientist. And your dismal performance in Chemistry this year is a proof of that. I know you are really sad, right at this moment, but look at the virtues you have in life!! 

You are blessed with the best parents in the world. They keep telling you, “Empty mind is the most dangerous thing”, isn’t it? They are right. That’s why they have kept you busy with so many classes and coachings. Once this year ends, you’ll be an accomplished typist, pretty comfortable in shorthand, and a pro in what you need out of computers. This is a year gained for you, not lost!! 

But yes, you need to write the re-exam for supplementary to get this hurdle over with and move on, not only to become a graduate, but a post-graduate too. But don’t worry, you’ll pass this time and as a bonus, you’ll have about 6 months to yourself. You can easily get into a library and read as much as you want. You are destined to read and write and read! Afterall you are going to become a language professional and you’ll need to grasp as many words as you can! What better way to do this, than reading? 

 So, hang on there buddy. We need you to be strong this year. You’ll have a tight schedule starting from 6 am in the morning to 7 pm in the night. Wish I could have given this advice to you then - ensure to be fit!! But I know you really don’t have time to think about fitness now. But hang on, things will be getting better soon!! 

Pssst…and I’ll tell you a little secret, one day you’ll become a role model for yourself. People will seek you out for simple things on computers! People will be awed at your abilities to type in many languages! [You already have the best typing teacher in the world to teach you!!]; people will be mesmerized by the words you use in the content you develop!! And more than anything, you’ll be a motivating power for women who want to make a difference for themselves and look for opportunities to work from home!! 

You are destined to be all these Deepa. Be strong. Don’t let this failure lure you away from ruling yourself.
