The words “DM to order” or “DM for price” are easy methods to sell to customers but let me tell you this, they are hard to work with.

Let me give you an example: a customer DMs you on Instagram or Twitter to purchase a product. Of course, they ask you for the price and the availability of the product or whether they are in stock. You answer all their questions, they go offline for a bit — let’s say 30 minutes, they come back with more questions — you answer all of them — only for them to end the conversation with either, “I will get back to you”, “I don’t think I want these colours”, “I can’t afford it”, etc. and leave you on read.

What? It’s frustrating, innit? Do you want to know what’s worse? When they ask for your payment details but do not send the money to confirm payment. LMFAO

As a business owner in the 21st century, especially in 2024, one of your smart moves should be how to be innovative to solve problems like these, digitally.

Have a website! Create a website yourself or pay someone to create it for you.

Your website will have all the information customers will need before making a purchase. The website will have a variety of delivery /dispatch and payment options for your customers to choose from. The goal of the website is to make buying and selling super easy and simple for both you and the customer — you get your money and they get their products or services depending on what you do as a business owner.

If you are the business owner wearing all the hats and by hats I mean you being the accountant, finance manager, customer service representative, procurement manager, etc you know it all — then creating a website yourself without having to pay someone to do it for you, shouldn’t be a something you can’t do. Yes, yes I know…I know you have zero coding skills. It’s not a problem.

Switch from selling on DMs to websites. Less interaction with customers because all the information about your product or service will be on your website. It is always better to use a website. It saves time and energy for both parties — you and the customers.
